Jardins de Valloires

THE ABBEY
Founded in 1138, Valloires Abbey has had a turbulent history over the centuries. Rebuilt in the 18th century, the contrast is great between the sobriety of its architecture and the Baroque decoration, particularly of the abbey church and the sacristy.
Since the installation of the Valloires Préventorium by Thérèse Papillon in 1922 until today with the reception of children within social structures, the Valloires Association has kept this Abbey alive in the service of children.
Valloires Abbey can only be visited by guide. You will discover the church, the cloister, the sacristy, the chapter house and the large living room (the other spaces are dedicated to welcoming children).

GARDENS

Classified Remarkable garden, this space is full of treasures with its five gardens and more than 5000 species spread over 8 ha.

Depending on the season and the time of day, it offers different sensations and views, leaving a lot of room for surprise and discovery. Landscape in perpetual movement the Gardens of Valloires constantly reinvent the relationship with nature.

A LIVING GARDEN
With family and friends dive into the heart of a living nature and discover in turn the lines of a French garden, the wild and irregular side of the English garden or the scents of the rose garden.

VARIED AMBIANCES
During your visit, you enter different worlds organized in the form of thematic islands, associating botanical species of different families but of similar appearances:
- the regular garden with its French perspective,
- the garden of the islands where peeled bark and foliage form a living decor and invite to daydreaming,
- the meadow where nature takes back its rights,
- the garden of 5 senses where touching, feeling, watching, listening and tasting becomes a game,
- the Garden of Evolution, where the story of men and plants is told
- the rose garden mixing a shades of white, pink and red on the background of Abbey
- the marsh garden and its wild atmosphere recalling the presence of the Authie
